This is not an intended effect. It "just happens" and please don't ask me why, I do not understand what happens for the focus to get stuck at the GtkTreeView columns. It could even be that the keyboard shortcut handling is the culprit. We need some GTK+ professionals to look at this. I tried to debug it, but always failed.
