Hello, I don't know if you know that mc was temporary orphaned, but I'm now the new maintainer.
This issue is fixed in testing+unstable, but since etch is stable there is hardly a chance that I'll get that fix backported to etch. I asked yesterday Martin Zobel-Helas for this issue, and he'll look at it. maybe this will be included within one of the next point releases of etch.. but I don't know and I'm not able to do something.
