Why do you think "snmpget device password OID" is correct?

Did I say that? No. Did you read the tutorial carefully? No.

The first line indeed does not fit 'the' snmpget which comes from
net-snmp and is usually used in Debian, but please remember that Debian
is not the only OS around. The tutorial clearly states:

But this is the Debian distribution.

Read the documentation that comes with your device or program.

I assumed you could use the Debian snmpget to talk to every SNMP device out there.

If you read the documentation of snmpget in Debian, you'll find you have
to use something like snmpget -v[version] -c[password] device OID. Read
the documentation of - for example - Irix or JUNOS you'll see that the
first way applies here. Chances are good that there's even a version of
snmpget which will run into your Debian installation and uses this - in
your opinion - buggy syntax.

Wouldn't it make sense to show the syntax of the snmpget which is usually used? Or to not show any syntax at all, given that there's a big chance it's not right?
