Package: openntpd Version: 3.9p1-3 Severity: normal *** Please type your report below this line *** We have some workstations where the -s option is used with openntpd and ntpdate is installed. During system boot both will apply a step in system time unfortunately resulting in a double correction (see log extract below). Naturally, if the hardware clock is off by a sufficent amount ntpd will thereafter be ineffective (normal and correct behaviour). I have seen this happen on more than one host.
I'm not sure what solution is best. Option one, the package can conflict with ntpdate and -s is the default. Option two, a warning regarding ntpdate with the -s option in the man page.
