1. Bind your RETURN key to newline-and-indent: 1.1 M-x global-set-key 1.2 Press RETURN 1.3 Type newline-and-indent 2. Enter ruby-mode: 2.1 M-x ruby-mode 3. Type "if fluff then", then press RETURN. Expected behavior: The cursor should move to the next line. It should also move in a few step (which is the point of having RETURN bound to newline-and-indent). Current behavior: The cursor moves to the next line. It does not move in. To start typing at the correct location I have to press TAB after pressing RETURN :-(.
