I'm positive hdaps-gl didn't work with hdaps, which nonetheless
loaded without problems. Also there was no output when running the
daemon with '-v'

I'm indeed using 2.6.24 but I also used the patch to the patch suggested
in the same page (change a couple of 1s for 2s) and had no freezes so
far...
