Package: openoffice.org Version: 1.1.3-9 Severity: important
OpenOffice.org programs steals focus from other windows. With window managers without active "focus stealing avoidance" mechanisms (e.g., xfce4, as opposed to say KDE) this is a serious usability problem. This is extremely dangerous. For example, when it is set to auto-save and ask, the confirmation window will steal focus at unpredictable times, and if you are typing something in another window, OpenOffice will interpret what you are typing (nothing to do with the confirmation) as a "Yes" or "No". You will not have any chance to find out what you have done. Similarly, when you are loading a file and you switch to another window to type (because the file is large or for some other reason loads slowly), your typing will appear in the opened document when it finally opens. Since this is an "office" application, it is not unreasonable to assume that some typists or secretaries will be using the program, and therefore it is reasonable to say that a typical user might not be looking at the screen when typing. Therefore, the user may not be aware that he/she is typing somewhere else, until serious damage is done (such as a "yes" to "do you want to save the document such-and-such" when the document should not be saved in the default name). (He/she may not even be aware that damage has been done if the window has dismissed itself before he/she have a chance to look at the screen.) This is extremely dangerous. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.28-ow1 Locale: LANG=zh_TW.Big5, LC_CTYPE=zh_TW.Big5 (charmap=BIG5) Versions of packages openoffice.org depends on: ii dictionaries-common [openoffi 0.25.9 Common utilities for spelling dict ii openoffice.org-bin 1.1.3-9 OpenOffice.org office suite binary ii openoffice.org-debian-files 1.1.3-8+1 Debian specific parts of OpenOffic ii openoffice.org-l10n-en [openo 1.1.3-9 English (US) language package for ii ttf-opensymbol 1.1.3-9 The OpenSymbol TrueType font ii xml-core 0.09 XML infrastructure and XML catalog -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
