Sorry, I cannot reproduce it. I have exactly the same gnome package installed and added the example mail you provided to my imap server. Let's see if someone else can reproduce it. Maybe it might help if you provide more info on the mail server you use and if you have more example mails. Is the error deterministic or happens from time to time? Something else would be to check if you have any special handlers set for some mime-types or is it all the default configuration? Another idea to track this down would be to check if this happens because you have not all gnome libraries installed? Do you run a full gnome install? Or did you install the vfs package accidentially/intentionally alone? Maybe check if gnome-2 and gconf-2 are installed too.
