Package: update-notifier
Version: 0.59.5.debian
Severity: wishlist

In src/update.c, the array "actions" defines what happens when options
are selected from the pull-down menu of update-notitier, and when the
icon is clicked with button 1. This hard-codes update-manager and
synaptic as update viewer and package manager.

Some people like to use other package managers (which can also be used
as update viewer), such as aptitude. Please get the first values of
this array (the executed command) from a config file, instead of using
hardcoded values. That way, advanced users can make use of
update-notifier without needing to use a package manager they don't
like.

Thanks,
Bas
