It is allowed to start query with '/', for example as in situation described in initial message (with '/W' on the begining). And there is an variable 'num' which is used in removing '/' and after that, _without_ setting to 0 is used one more time as an index in array of remote finger hosts. This two uses are completly independent and could be fixed by using two different variables. This behaviour causes two things: 1* finger forwarding does not work correctly; 2* reading beyond the array occures if array has only one element (program reads at least one element - which is pointed by variable num).
