Package: vsftpd Version: 2.0.5-2 Severity: normal I have two external IPs, bound to eth0 and eth0:1. sshd is listening on eth0:21. I intend for vsftpd to listen on eth0:1:21.
Starting vsftpd with the default configuration results in the program quitting, possibly because it can't bind : but it leaves no diagnostic output in syslog or whatever, and the invoke-rc.d commands are non the wiser that it has failed, leaving stale PID files around. Specifying listen_address in vsftpd.conf means it stops trying to bind to *:21 and works ok. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- Jon Dowland ISS UNIX Team -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
