Hi ! I am not able to reproduce build failure reported in bug #442598. Looking at the logs[1], it seems that the configure script does not detect python which should be in /usr/bin/python. Therefore, the clean script calls "setup.py clean" instead of "/usr/bin/setup.py clean". The install of python2.4 should create /usr/bin/python symlink.
When building in a clean sid chroot, configure finds python in /usr/bin/python as it should. Therefore, the bug may be in the build environment? Or the problem has been fixed in python2.4 package in the meanwhile. Could you try another double build? Thanks.
