Package: amavisd-new
Version: 1:2.4.2-6.1

I'm running Debian 4.0R3 Etch amd64. I have configured amavisd-new to work as content_filter in the postfix. I have installed spamassassin and clamav-daemon too.

The clamd and spamd are running, however the Amavisd-new reports
ANTI-VIRUS code NOT loaded
ANTI-SPAM-SA code NOT loaded

I really didn't understand, why. I have checked the clamd socket settings -they're alright. I've done minimal changes to the configuration. The mail.log shows that mail goes thru amavis regularily.

However, diggind thru docs I have found mention of /usr/share/amavis files. I looked at the conf.d/20-package there and has been suspicious about the two @bypass parameters, that has been set to (1).

And really, THERE the whole problem lays. Since in the regular config in /etc/amavis/conf.d/15-content-filter-mode these lines are COMMENTED, the defaults are taken from /usr/share/amavis!

So, even if user dosen't UNCOMMENT these lines (as the comment-description says) in order to SWITCH OFF the content filtering, they ARE unblocked anyway by default, so that the filtering is DISABLED!

Only by uncommenting these two lines and setting to () in /etc/amavis/15-content-filter-mode config, I has been able to enable the anti-virus and anti-spam checks!

Either the comments near these lines in config should reflect this (tell the admin, that in order to ENABLE anti-spam and anti-virus checks, he must uncomment the lines and set them to (), or the configs in /usr/share/amavis should enable the checks to allow admin to disable them manually by uncommenting the lines, as the comments say.
