Hello,
My boxes are mainly Etch boxes:
some packages, as slurm-llnl, are built the Debian way
by myself from Lenny or Sid sources.
The version previously installed was the version 1.2.23.
Note that I observed the same when I upgraded to version 1.2.23
from version 1.2.20 (lenny).
I upgraded in a customary way: I did not purged the package before.
I do not remember the former slurm user uid, but I did not changed it.
Nevertheless, I have to confess that I modified its home directory:
/home/slurm -> /var/slurm
because I prefer to have only _human_ regular user in my /home
directory: this make my life easier as superuser.
Hence may be the unexpected behaviour at upgrade time.
hth,
Jerome

what was the version previously installed?
Did you have an installation compiled from the upstream source?
I have just upgraded `slurm-llnl' on my boxes:
I have noticed that the user slurm was removed and then added,
The slurm user is only removed when its uid is not 64030 or when the
package is purged.
while meanwhile the cert and the key were removed on the master.
The key is only removed when the package is purged.

Are you using the binary unstable package or do you compile it
by yourself?
Thanks for your help.
