Hi, just as a side note I'd like to mention that I have hit (probably) the same bug in nscd from 2.7 in Ubuntu hardy, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/122815
So the answer to the question > Does the nscd from libc 2.5 fixes the problem for you ? is probably "no". Again, only on 64-bit system.
