No, it does not.  If you add a '\n' in the debconf templates it will
turn up as '\\n' in the po/templates.pot file after debconf-updatepo is
run.

I looked at the templates file for kexec-tools to check how this is
possible.  It looks like if an additional space is added before the line
in the debconf templates file, the po/templates.pot file will have an
added '\n' and each of them will be on a new line.
