Package: snort Version: 2.7.0-13 Severity: normal configuration of snort starts the snort daemon in the foreground. configuration never finishes, resulting in a "partly configured" package. i solved the problem by editing /etc/init.d/snort and adding "-D" to the startup options. after that i was able to reconfigure the package successfully.
