You can get and build the package by doing the following: apt-get install build-essential devscripts apt-get build-dep collectd dget -x http://debian.tokkee.org/debian.org/collectd/4.3.2-1/collectd_4.3.2-1.dsc cd collectd-4.3.2/ debuild -us -uc If you want to build the package for Etch, you should get the debian/control file from backports.org - you can get that from [1]. This will leave the new Debian packages in the directory you started out.
