Package: openoffice.org Version: 1:2.4.0-3 --- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hello Rene, I would like to send a me too. I wondered for some time why OpenOffice.org so frequently crashes when opening documents. Then I found this bugreport and hoped for a solution. But even the latest OpenOffice.org package crashes, when background spell checking is activated. If I disable it, no more crashes happen. The workaround with a new empty OpenOffice.org Writer instance and typing some characters before opening a document does work too. Starting without typing something did not suffice by the way. I have this problem with many (german) documents and can reproduce it with Diplomarbeit.odt, so I think it is the same problem. I can not guarantee that all dependant packages are current because I update my productively used system only selectively. However I checked that the main OpenOffice.org packages and hunspell are up to date. I even tested a new hunspell version from experimental to no avail. If you need some more information feel free to ask.
