Package: bitlbee Version: 1.2-3 Severity: normal In /etc/default/bitlbee the options to give to the daemon are stored in the environment variable BITLBEE_OPTS, but in /etc/init.d/ that are actually given to the daemon are those stored in $DAEMON_OPT. So, the options from /etc/default/bitlbee are ignored.
