I'd never heard of this before.
I myself do not have any first hand experience in building indic enabled firefox. I saw some instructions on what patches that need to be applied on http://bunny.medhas.org/ . In this page under Wed, 04 May 2005 they provide a list of patches that need to be applied to have indic enabled build. However the website does not clearly explain as to how to do it. So I posted some questions on the indlinux-telugu mailing list asking for some clarifications. The relevant thread can be found at http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=7318622&forum_id=13737 Here are my conclusions from reading the replies. The patches listed at http://bunny.medhas.org/ are applied against official firefox source available at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0.3/source/firefox-1.0.3-source.tar.bz2 These patches can be downloaded from http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewcvs/devel/firefox/ > > Currently the indic enabled build for mozilla 1.7 is available at > > ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.7/contrib/mozilla-1.7-i686-pc-linux-gnu-gtk2-xft-pango.tar.gz > > > > and for mozilla-firefox 1.0.2, it is available at > > http://bunny.medhas.org/download/firefox-1.0.2.en-US.linux-pango-i686.installer.tar.gz > > > > I can't just use their binaries, I need to know how they were built. > I myself am a noobie when it comes to building stuff from sources. But the people who have done this are subscribed to the above mailing list. If you are having problem with building, they might be able to give better help than me. Apparently ubuntu distro also ships patched build of firefox in their regular distro. Looks like Debian is the one lagging behind in this issue. thanks raju
