I have noticed the same after deleting usbfs line from my fstab. It has been there for ages, I just wanted to test how the mounting is done nowadays and found this bug. I think that the initscripts maintainer should remove the corresponding part of the script and state somewhere in the docs that usbfs should be explicitly mounted from fstab or by other means if needed.
