the kernel-image builds just fine with this FWIW so there might be some useful stuff there.
The information is certainly a little thin on the ground, drbd8 has some stuff, but that then tries to call amd64-linux-gcc (which admitedly I did actually have from http://www.debian-administration.org/users/jonesy/weblog/1) http://wiki.debian.org/DebianAMD64Faq says that this is how the kernel should be built. What would be interesting is what the correct calls are (the amdwrappers tarball from the first URL calls objcopy and objdump as is, but adds "--target=elf64-x86-64" to nm, "-melf_x86_64" to ld and adds "-m64" to gcc (removing -m32 if it is present). Perhaps it's be worth asking the kernel maintainers for some guidance?
