Hi Marc! The latest ImageMagick seems to have fixed the documentation about -geometry, that you have reported at http://bugs.debian.org/462759
The updated description can be read at http://www.imagemagick.org/script/command-line-options.php#geometry and it's the same available on imagemagick from testing/unstable. Is it OK to close this bug on the newer version of imagemagick package or do you want to have this bug as a wishlist to support negative offset values? Thank you!
