Sorry, I should have read this line more carefully before suggesting this be bounced to the bug tracker. Your system contains a locally installed JSON.pm; does this differ from the version in /usr/share/perl5/JSON.pm? Does the problem go away if you remove the file /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/JSON.pm?
