Uh, what makes you believe they are sporadic? I would suggest that they are more likely to be quite systematic. There are packages which are desirable for platforms where the most efficient way to work is with cross tools. Even if Debian's buildds do not use this, and policy does not mandate it as a release critical issue, why do you think #315935 is not an important bug affecting some of our users 'seriously'? I find it surprising that you'd rather accrete a wontfix flag to our core build tools than just fix this simple deficiency in the affected package. I'll upgrade that to disappointing if anyone actually supports this without providing good examples of a package that people might reasonably want to cross compile that would warrant such a blunt NO YOU CAN'T, as a reasonable, and technically enforced 'solution'.
