In the latest versions we are building based on plugins, it seems to me that you don't have intalled the recommends of the package, which are these: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, gstreamer0.10-plugins-base, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, hicolor-icon-theme Check again after installing all these packages and tell us if it works or if it doesn't.
