Yes, I think the manual page is in error here (probably cut-and-paste
error from the schroot(1) manpage).  The original dchroot(1) in
unstable used -d to preserve the environment, and we retain
compatibility with that and add the --preserve-environment long
option.

I checked the source, and the behaviour is correct, it's just the
manpage in error.
