Well, quite some time has passed since I submitted this bug report along with the patch that fixes the issue... Could this bug be fixed once and for all? AFAICT, MayaVi1 is not heavily developed anymore, since MayaVi2 (which has recently entered Debian: http://packages.debian.org/mayavi2) is going to replace it sooner or later. Hence, I don't know how quickly upstream could consider to accept my patch for MayaVi1: I therefore ask that the patch is applied to the Debian package and forwarded to upstream at the same time.
