Package: samba Version: 3.0.14a-1 Version: 2.2.3a-14.1
Interesting part of SAMBA config: write cache size = 512000 strict sync = No Error messages: none Packges SAMBA depends on: not affected, problem resides inside smbd. There is a known and obviously solved problem inside SAMBA: if write cache is enabled SAMBA-3.0.14a and earlier versions can fail to store files correctly to disk in some situations. This happens with XP clients and Thunderbird/Mozilla-Mail application for example - mail storage sitting on a samba share gets corrupted under certain conditions. Try this application to verify the problem: http://home.arcor.de/ikilian/smbtest4.exe will fail to create the expected file on a samba share if write cache enabled (run from XP!). Expected: file of exactly 16K in size and predefined content should be created Observed: file size differs and content becomes corrupted Patch by J.Allison adresses this issue, see: http://websvn.samba.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi?view=rev&root=samba&rev=6673 Possible backport of this to 2.2.12 (not very tested): http://home.arcor.de/ikilian/20212-p6671-050522 Best wishes, Ingo Kilian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
