Package: minicom Version: 2.3-1 Severity: normal
Trying to use aptitude in a minicom session in a gnome-terminal windows with screen running doesn't work. aptitude's boxes (e.g. search box) display strange characters and periods instead of the line drawing characters. The same setup with picocom works so it is something to do with minicom. I suspect that minicom is translating characters but fails to translate utf8 characters outside the 7-bit ASCII range correctly. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental'), (1, 'unstable'), (1, 'testing'), (1, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages minicom depends on: ii libc6 2.7-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libncurses5 5.6+20080308-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand Versions of packages minicom recommends: ii lrzsz 0.12.21-4.1 Tools for zmodem/xmodem/ymodem fil -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
