Here's an even better example:
klecker!joey(pts/2):/tmp> ls -ld /tmp/ipp*|wc -l
-bash: /bin/ls: Argument list too long
0
klecker!joey(pts/2):/tmp> find /tmp -maxdepth 1 -name 'ipp.*' |wc -l
11615
klecker!joey(pts/2):/tmp>
Maybe we should even consider this problem serious.
