Unfortunately, I was stupid enough not to keep the logs, but it
seemed that the authentication happened as it should, asterisk then
said 100 Trying and so on, but eventually sent a 503 Unavailable or
the like, which then caused the dialog to pop up.

Maybe twinkle doesn't check carefully enough the return code which
causes it to pop up the authentication dialog?
