I have the same problem:
* no printing
* printconf fails to configure
* foomatic-gui fails to authenticate itself:
(foomatic-gui:5235): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session
manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols
specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
Unable to read printer database.
