Package: manpages-dev Version: 2.39-1 Severity: wishlist The getgrent(3) and getgroups(3) manual page should reference getgrouplist(3). The reason is that getgrouplist(3) is a very useful replacement for calls to setgrent(), getgrent() and endgrent() when trying to look up one members groups, when using networked directory services like LDAP. The latter uses 20 minutes in my test environment with 120000 users and 6600 groups (running 'id username' in etch), while getgrouplist() uses 20 seconds (using 'id username' in lenny).
I was not aware of the getgrouplist() function until yesterday, and it would have helped me a lot to find it when reviewing the getgrent(3) and getgroups(3) manual page, if it was listed in the SEE ALSO section there.
