I got a similar error when trying (using the right-click menu) to open
in a tab the file "toto.log" in
http://bugs.debian.org/310189
Gecko popped up a window:
XML Parsing Error: syntax error
Location: chrome: //mozapps/content/downloads/unknownContentType.xul Line
Number 1, Column 1: ..."
Type.xulUT
^
This was fully reproducible until I restarted firefox.
After restarting firefox, the problem no longer occurred.
