Since the change was reverted I'm reopening this bug. I agree with Lucas that my patch should have discussed with upstream, tested, and the manpage updated, but at the same time I maintain that it shouldn't *reasonably* have broken existing scripts. There is no reason for copyright-check.mk to specify -r, for example. It would be interesting to know if there were more cases of breakage.
