I don't think that UseFBDev has ever mattered, other than via causing an extra delay at some critical point during VT switching, which has helped to avoid the crash. Attaching strace to X or even raising the nice value and running a busy loop in other process seems to make the freeze bug go away, too. But even when there's no freeze, I still have at least 10 seconds' delay before I get to use X after pressing alt-F11 (yes, I have 10 virtual consoles), so I guess the whole issue is rather moot unless that gets cut down to some sane duration. I guess I would spend my time better teaching some WM to give me as quick an access to an xterm as the flick of ctrl-alt-F1 rather than hope that this all gets fixed. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
