Furthermore /var/lib/dpkg/available is not a very useful source of
information about available packages unless one is a regular user of
dselect. "apt-cache show <package>" should be the reflex nowadays.

Maybe we should update the documentation to mention that this command is
really deprecated... that would be the proper response to this bug report
IMO. :-)
