Thanks for the suggestions, but writing "3.0b5" in the user_pref entry for 
extensions.lastAppVersion seems to have no effect on the crash. When launching 
Iceweasel, no dialogs or messages are displayed, only the "Starting 
Iceweasel..." item in the GNOME window list appears for an instant before 
bug-buddy reports the crash.
