After recent updates to Lenny, my system no longer crashes. GDM starts and login to gnome is normal. Screen corruption still exists during the boot process, and the mini-console inside the splash screen that shows startup messgages freezes after the fourth message. Also, after gsm starts, the virtual consoles are unusable (screen is garbled and no prompt is visible).
