You can also decide to fix it post-lenny if you feel switching to quilt is
problematic at this point. There's no hurry to fix this bug, I filed it
early so that it's an easy release goal to finish in the beginning of the
lenny+1 cycle.

(I don't think we want to harcode any desired format in the control file,
unless the projects decides to support multiple concurrent source package
formats... but I'm not in favor of this)

Apart from the switch to quilt, you can fix this by changing your copy of
DBS to ignore files matching:
- debian/patches/.dpkg-source-applied
- debian/patches/series
- debian/patches/debian-changes-*
