severity 349830 important thanks I was just bit by this problem in a test installation on Debian Edu. The courier-ldap and courier-imap-ssl packages in Lenny fail to upgrade because of this issue.
There are two things at work here. The stop script return an error code when the daemon is already dead. It should not. And the start script fail because it is unable to create the lock files in /var/run/courier/. Please apply the provided patch to make sure courier work when RAMRUN is set in /etc/default/rcS.
