I was bitten by the bug described at http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.version-control.git/83101 - serves me right for trying to get things done using a prerelease version of git. Anyway, please take a look at http://home.uchicago.edu/~jrnieder/gpm.git for-nico once you get a chance. The 'upstream' corresponds to gpm-1-stable from http://unix.schottelius.org/git/gpm.
