Is gdm configured as your default display manager? If not, it will not start indeed. What output do you get by typing “/etc/init.d/gdm start” ? > so, i thought i would try to reconfigure it: > # dpkg-reconfigure gdm > Scheduling reload of GNOME Display Manager configuration: > gdminvoke-rc.d: initscript gdm, action "reload" failed. If gdm is not running, this is expected and the error is ignored. -- .''`. : :' : We are debian.org.
