I leave my personal workstation accessible at all times, as many
people do. Every now and then, I find it has frozen - Probably once a
week or so. The culprit is always the "flurry" hack - When I come
back, I have Flurry on my screen, with some memory corruption
(i.e. blocks, usually around 100x20 guesstimated pixels, with
seemingly random colors but each of them with a single color, and with
random-like patterns in them between the base color and the black
background).
The hack runs fine for some time, at least - it's not an easy to
predict lockup. Of course, I decided to better uncheck this hack from
my xscreensaver preferences...
lspci reports that my graphic card is:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics
Controller (rev 02)
No other hacks (or 3D effects - I'm not a Compiz user, but have used
it to show it off) cause this behaviour.
