it is just enabled by default with nagios3. You can disable it with
inserting "# nagios: -epn" in the first 10 lines of the plugin. This will be
the case for the next nagios-snmp-plugins package.

I added the following to the top of the
/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_snmp_process.pl script:
# nagios: -epn
This fixed the problem.
