There's no sane way to do this for all architectures and still have
valid versioning information. Far better to have no versioning
information than to have invalid versioning information.
I'm not averse to providing a warning when people don't provide
versioning information that they should use reportbug or follow the
instructions given on the web pages, however. That at least has human
input, and can safely deal with cases where people aren't actually
following stable/testing/unstable closely enough to have the most
recent versions, are using an architecture that is slightly out of
sync, or the BTS itself is out of sync with their mirror.
