Package: isdnutils
Version: 1:3.6.2005-01-03-5
Severity: wishlist
We have a Gigaset ISDN modem, which requires kernel modules AFAIK not
available for Debian. Unfortunately, for reasons yet unknown, loading
the gigaset-ser module at boot does not work (when isdn is going up,
the module is no longer present). For this reason I looked for a way,
to specify modules directly before/during isdn startup. I "solved" the
issue by hand-inserting a "modprobe gigaset_ser" in
/etc/isdn/init.d.functions
since I could not find a pre-determined place (i.e., a config file) to
achieve this within the isdn startup-scripts.
While looking at the documentation I was always refered to the
HiSax-module/docu. So a first step in solving this issue would be to
rewrite the docu (at least README.Debian) to be more independent of the
actual modules used for ISDN and then to offer a way to load the module
in an "official" way.
If you, by any chance, have an idea *why* gigaset_ser could be unloaded
I'd be glad to know, but this is clearly outside the scope of this
report.
