As far as I know, Eitan reads the Debian bugs listings for "tex4ht".

Currently, tex4ht "Suggests" Sun's java rather than "Recommends".
This is for a combination of reasons:

 1. Many users (myself included!) so far do not need to use
 "xtpipes".
 2. Sun's java is currently not available in Debian. It is only
available in the "non-free" archive. This may change as a Debian
version of Sun's java may become available.
 3. We want to reduce the packages automatically installed. So
we do not even use "Recommend" for "imagemagick" or "ghostscript".

Note that "Recommended" packages are (from now on) automatically
installed for most Debian users by default --- disabling this
requires the user to choose "do not install recommend by default".
Thus packages that are not needed by most users should be in
"Suggests".

Regards,

Kapil.
